Description
In smaller power systems energy can be saved by operating appliances directly from the DC battery voltage (i.e. no inverter is required to convert to 240vAC and therefore there are no inverter losses).
See our website to learn more about DC models and the advantages/disadvantages.
The list of appliances that operate directly from a 24 volt DC includes lights, timers, pumps, fans and refrigerators.
What type of pumping systems are available?
Where water needs to be pumped from a dam or bore, solar water pumps are an ideal choice. The higher the average daily water requirement of the household is, the greater the cost of the solar pumping system will be.
A small and inexpensive pumping system is available to pump up to 4,000 litres per day, depending upon the depth of the bore and the amount of sun available at the site.
To compensate for overcast weather conditions, it is normally recommended that the solar pump be installed in conjunction with a large water tank. The water tank effectively becomes the "storage battery" during poor solar weather conditions.
